The Fragmented View
On paper, these don't look related.
For a long time, my work looked fragmented from the outside.
I ran event and AV production systems.
I built internal tools and software.
I helped businesses with growth and marketing.
I worked with photography and visual storytelling.

In practice, they were all the same problem.
Living Close to Chaos
Proximity to chaos rewires your priorities.
Living close to chaos changes how you think.
When you work in environments where things cannot fail — live events, compliance-sensitive operations, businesses running on thin margins — you stop caring about clever ideas very quickly.
You start caring about:
- What breaks under pressure
- What depends on one person
- What fails silently until it's expensive
- What "works" only because someone is compensating for it
Most businesses don't collapse because of bad intentions.
They collapse because too much is held together informally.
I've spent years working inside those situations — not observing them, not advising from the outside, but operating within them.
That proximity to chaos rewires your priorities.
Why I Don't Sell Hours
If a system still needs constant interpretation, it's not finished.
Selling hours assumes that:
- The problem is known
- The scope is stable
- The work is repeatable
- Time spent correlates with value
In real operations, none of that is true.
What actually matters is whether something stops depending on a person once the work is done.
If a system still needs constant interpretation, reminders, or heroics, it's not finished — regardless of how many hours were spent.
That's why I stopped selling time.
I install systems.
What I Mean by Systems
If it only works while I'm present, it doesn't count.
I'm not talking about abstract architecture diagrams or theoretical frameworks.
A system, for me, is something that:
- Can be used by people with less context than me
- Prevents common mistakes instead of explaining them
- Surfaces problems early
- Continues working after I step away
That can be:
- An operational workflow
- A compliance-safe process
- A coordination structure
- A piece of software
- A handoff between demand and delivery
If it only works while I'm present, it doesn't count.
The Pattern I Couldn't Ignore
It isn't chaos. It's systems debt.
Across events, software, growth work, and visual projects, the same pattern kept repeating:
Businesses didn't need more effort.
They needed fewer fragile assumptions.
Most problems weren't caused by lack of talent or motivation.
They were caused by:
- Owner bottlenecks
- Unclear boundaries
- Tool sprawl without ownership
- Compliance treated as paperwork instead of behavior
- Growth applied to systems that couldn't absorb it
People would often call this "chaos."
It isn't.
It's systems debt.
Why I'm Careful with Titles
Instead of claiming a role, I describe a function.
At some point, I started using the term Systems Architect.
And then I stopped.
Not because the thinking wasn't there — but because titles tend to drift away from reality faster than systems do.
In the Croatian SMB environment especially, titles don't matter much. Outcomes do.
Most businesses here will never ask for a "systems architect."
They will ask why:
- Everything depends on them
- Growth made things worse
- Compliance feels constantly risky
- Nothing feels calm
So instead of claiming a role, I describe a function.
What I Actually Do Now
The tool is never the point. The system is.
I install operational systems that reduce dependency on individuals.
I design them by building them inside real operations.
Then I hand them off.
Sometimes those systems are powered by software I maintain.
Sometimes they use third-party tools.

What This Is Not a Fit For
If it needs to be solved repeatedly by explanation, it should have been encoded.
This way of working is not for everyone.
It's not for:
- Quick fixes
- Open-ended consulting
- Hourly help
- Heroics
- Vague mandates
- Businesses that don't want constraints

What Success Looks Like
If things don't break when I'm gone, that's the outcome.
Success, for me, isn't visibility or scale for its own sake.
It's distance from chaos without losing leverage.
It's systems that:
- Work quietly
- Encode judgment
- Survive misuse
- Outlive my involvement
